State Specific Requirements for IL, MS, MN, MO and NY

How to Obtain IL SLAI Confirmation Number, MS Confirmation Number, MN Stamping Number, MO Risk Number and NY Stamped Documents

These states require confirmation of filing to be kept on file or submitted to the insured.

IL SLAI Confirmation Number:  Each transaction submitted to the state of IL will be given a confirmation number. The EFS confirmation page has service of suit wording, the proper policyholder notice (based on the insurer selected), the SLAI Confirmation Number, and lists the taxes and stamping fees. Filing service clients can log into the IL SLAI Filing system, search for the transaction and print the SLAI Conf# by selecting the green print icon next to the transaction. Pursuant to paragraph 6 of the Illinois surplus line law [215 ILCS 5/445(6)], it is illegal to deliver a policy or premium-bearing endorsement to the insured unless it bears evidence of recording by the Surplus Line Association of Illinois. In order to comply with that requirement, either affix the confirmation number to the first page or dec page of the document (or on the endorsement) and label it "SLAI Confirmation #", or print and attach the confirmation page.   This number can be retrieved from the filing page through the InsCipher portal once the filing has been submitted to the state filing system.

MS Confirmation Number:  Confirmation numbers for MS can be found by searching for the particular policy number in the MS SLIP, then choosing to View/Edit the policy. You can then scroll down to a list of what policies have been filed under that policy number. Each policy will have a confirmation number.

MN Stamping Number:  Once a transaction is submitted and finished in the MN SLAM filing system, the stamping number is provided. To obtain the stamping number, log into the MN SLAM filing system using the login credentials and PIN provided when the account was set up. Open the Transaction History and obtain the stamping number for that transaction. Please retain this information in your office. The stamping number does not have to be attached to the policy. You can print this page by using the print this table link on the bottom of the page.  This number can be retrieved from the filing page through the InsCipher portal once the filing has been submitted to the state filing system.

MO Risk Number:  Once a new or renewal policy is submitted to the state of MO, they return a risk number via e-mail.  This risk number will need to be used to file all subsequent transactions (endorsement, audit, cancellation, or reinstatement) for the policy.  The number can be retrieved from the filing page through the InsCipher portal once the e-mail is received from MO.

NY Stamped Documents:  The state requires all documents must be submitted to ELANY to file ( which is handled by InsCipher), then the agent must log into ELANY and download the stamped documents and submit them back to the insured.   See these instructions on to how to retrieve them.
